For the TII Group, which represents the combined activities of the heavy-duty and special vehicle manufacturers SCHEUERLE, NICOLAS and KAMAG, Bauma is one of the most important trade fairs in the World.  We have been exhibitors there for many years and once again increased the size of the stand - this year to three times that of 2007” explained Dr. Axel Müller, CEO of the TII Group.  “As in previous years, Bauma 2010 was a great success for us.  The TII Group’s new product developments were received very positively by both existing and potential customers as well as by the trade press.  We were able to keep in touch with existing customers, cultivate new relationships and sign new contracts.  We were particularly pleased to be able to take orders for our unique new product, the InterCombi PowerBooster (PB), both before and during Bauma.  The InterCombi PowerBooster (PB) will, for instance, soon be able to provide the necessary traction required by very steep slopes, even in the mountains of South America.  In addition, we also received international orders for the new K25, even before its official market launch.  There were also an especially high number of enquiries about our new product developments in the field of wind power plant transport.  We are very satisfied.  Unfortunately, not all international customers were able make it to the fair due to flight restrictions.  However, in order to reach those customers who were not able to come to Munich we will, for instance, once again have a stand at Bauma China in Shanghai in November this year as well as at ConExpo in Las Vegas at the beginning of 2011.”

Alongside many series products, the TII Group, world market leader in the transport of heavy loads, also offers its customers the right customised solutions for every challenging transport task. Once again, the staff at SCHEUERLE, NICOLAS and KAMAG have met these demands with their new developments:

Tried and tested, redefined - a ground-breaking product emerges from combined know-how
The new SCHEUERLE-KAMAG K25 is based on an already existing earlier KAMAG product and is a joint project between SCHEUERLE und KAMAG. The K25 is available as a trailing unit or self-propelled. The modular design facilitates an array of combination possibilities, which can be adjusted to the requirements of almost any transport task - whether on public roads or in-plant.
Advantages, such as the highest bending moment on the market, the greatest oil volume in its class, freely accessible steering rods, reinforced coupling fins, low-wear design, extensive range of accessories and numerous models like the K25 SP (Self-Propelled), SPE (Self-Propelled Electronically Steered), PB (Power Booster), SL (Split Type), ES (Extra Strong) and UL (Ultra Light), make the K25 an incomparable product, which is setting new standards in the heavy transport industry.

If platform height and weight are decisive criteria, then the new SCHEUERLE-KAMAG K22 is the ideal means of transport. Low, broad, with a high load-capacity and extremely agile. These are the features of the new K22 range. Despite direct loading on the platform vehicle, very high goods can easily pass beneath, say, bridges or high-voltage power lines, thanks to the minimal platform height of 770 mm in its lowered state.

Airy affairs
SCHEUERLE, NICOLAS and KAMAG have many options for the transport of wind power plants. In addition to their tried and tested vehicle technologies, the Group also offer the right accessories range. The new blade adapter from SCHEUERLE also has a lifting, lowering and turning device. The lifting and lowering function moves one side of the blade upwards in tight curves, so that the tip of the blade points upward at an angle of up to 23°. It can then be moved to the left or right meaning that it can "float" over supporting walls, trees, buildings or other obstacles. Additionally, the blade can be turned on its own longitudinal axis and moved out of the wind - taking wind loads into account. This guarantees the vehicle's stability. This new SCHEUERLE system can be used for semi-trailer combinations or for self-propelled transporters.

NICOLAS presented something new with its innovative, telescopic adapter technology. This weight-optimised adapter can move more than just wind towers. It is also designed to transport VESTAS V90 nacelles, for example. The adapter has special clamps that enable secure transportation of the VESTAS V90 nacelles. Wind tower segments up to 120 tonnes and with an internal diameter of 5,500 mm can be moved. The adapter is precisely adjusted to the individual segment via remote control. The whole adapter system, i.e. adapter + support frame + swivel bolster, weighs in at a total of just 19 tonnes.

SCHEUERLE also presented a new wind tower adapter at this year's Bauma. Designed for wind tower segments up to 90 tonnes with a diameter of up to 5,000 mm, the new adapter is compatible with the whole SCHEUERLE Combi range (EuroCombi, FlatCombi, InterCombi) and with the SCHEUERLE-KAMAG K25.

World first, modularisation and new generations
SCHEUERLE presented a world first with the InterCombi PowerBooster. The new InterCombi PB is equipped with shiftable drive axles and is powered by an equally shiftable PowerPack Unit (PPU). Thus, the development from the resourceful SCHEUERLE engineers replaces an additional tractor or banking machine on hilly transport routes. The InterCombi PB can also be operated as a self-propelled unit or coupled with other InterCombi platform trailers.

The new SCHEUERLE InterCombi ES (Extra Strong) is a new type of platform trailer made from high-strength fine-grained steel of class S 960. Thus, the InterCombi ES has a higher bending moment in the main beam. This stronger bending moment enables you to attach additional axle lines in a transport combination before and after a deck and, in so doing, ensure that you do not exceed the permissible bending moment and axle loads. Of course, the InterCombi ES can be coupled with the classic SCHEUERLE InterCombi.

The 4th generation of the SCHEUERLE SPMTs and the modular deck range are optimised for production and lead time thanks to the use of the latest robot welding technology. The platform and the complete bogie for the new SPMT generation are manufactured with the greatest precision by robots developed especially for SCHEUERLE. In contrast to the existing 3rd generation of SPMTs with an axle line load of 40 tonnes, the new 4th generation from SCHEUERLE has an axle load of 48 tonnes using foamed tyres (Polyfill) or superelastic (solid) tyres.  At Bauma there were regular demonstrations of the 4th generation of SPMTs, which proved very popular with trade visitors and fans alike.

The new EuroCombi BR (Boom Recess) from SCHEUERLE - in combination with an excavator deck - is ideally suited for challenging excavator transport. This platform trailer enables you to transport large excavators or construction machinery at a low height even if it has a long front arm.  To achieve this, the excavator arm is laid in the recess (load recess) in the centre of the vehicle frame, achieving a load height 60 cm lower with the SCHEUERLE EuroCombi BR. Thanks to the 45° angle of the boom recess, it is also no problem to take round goods, such as large pipes and wind tower segments, set in the boom recess that is 1,330 mm wide at the top.

The fifth wheel load on the new SCHEUERLE gooseneck is continuously adjustable so that it can be easily adjusted to the dead weight of the tractor. Additionally, the load area can simply be removed. The gooseneck is versatile and is compatible with all products of the SCHEUERLE Combi range. Transport on conventional trailers is no problem with its total width of 2.5 metres. The modular design of the gooseneck, combined with the latest robotic welding technology facilitates flexible realisation of our customers' wishes.

New "Salsa-Plus Programme
Alongside many product innovations, SCHEUERLE has developed the new, improved "Salsa-Plus" programme, which facilitates calculation of the fifth wheel and axle loads in connection with a freely definable load and additional load before the start of the journey, in order to better meet its customers' needs. The system also checks the frame load of the overall combination and clearly shows at a glance - in a colour bar chart - whether there could be an overload.

ESTA Awards Dinner - „And the winner is….”: TII Equipment!
TII’s heavy duty vehicles also enjoyed a great deal of success at this year’s 2010 ESTA Awards, which took place in Munich on April 22nd. Numerous transporters fitted with SCHEUERLE, KAMAG and NICOLAS equipment were nominated in various categories - in the Self-Propelled Modular Transporter category, for instance, all of the nominated projects used TII Group SPMTs. The outstanding transport projects carried out by TII Group customers then went on to win some of the coveted ESTA awards. “We are proud that our customers put their trust in our technology and carry out such spectacular transport projects using TII’s extremely high load bearing equipment” said Dr. Axel Müller, “and we wish to offer our warmest congratulations to our customers Sarens and Spedition Kübler on winning their prizes.”
